The Tasmanian Health Service is seeking interest from suitably qualified applicants for the Tasmanian Anaesthetic Training Program (TATP) Senior Registrar/Provisional Fellowship vacancies.

Through the TATP, provisional fellowship positions are available at the Royal Hobart Hospital and Launceston General Hospital. These positions are approved by ANZCA for provisional fellowship. All positions can be for 12 months, with the potential for longer appointments. 6 month appointments may be considered.

The Senior Medical Officer (Anaesthetics) primary responsibility is to provide competent quality clinical care to patients under their care, and to actively participate in education administration and research endeavours. They are responsible for providing high quality anaesthetics management across the required services at TPCH and MNHHS. The Senior Medical Officer (Anaesthetics) provides leadership in clinical services of Anaesthetics that is innovative, encourages participation in treatment and care aimed at achieving demonstrable improvement in patient outcomes.

The role requires the applicant to undertake a broad range of anaesthetic and perioperative practice and there are opportunities to develop special clinical interests across a wide range of specialties. The Tasmanian Health Service is seeking interest from suitable applicants for registrar and fellow vacancies in diving and hyperbaric medicine at the Royal Hobart Hospital (RHH).

The RHH Department of Diving and Hyperbaric Medicine (DDHM) is fully accredited for ANZCA Advanced Certificate of Diving and Hyperbaric Medicine training, subject to the applicant meeting ANZCA requirements. The positions are also accredited by the Australasian College for Emergency Medicine for advanced training as a Special Skills Category A term, and are approved by the South Pacific Underwater Medicine Society for the SPUMS Diploma of Diving and Hyperbaric Medicine.

All applicants must be fit to dive as per AS/NZS 2299.1 or AS/NZS 4774.2.

This position requires enrolment in the Australia and New Zealand College of Anaesthetists Chapter of Perioperative Medicine Course, with six-month (x2) spent in the perioperative medicine program with targeted clinical exposure and education in perioperative medicine at each of Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre and St. Vincent’s hospital. 

During the six months spent at Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre the fellow will also provide for the day-to-day clinical management of perioperative patients, including preoperative workup, anaesthesia, postoperative care, and pain management under the care and direction of the Directorate of the Director of Anaesthesia, Perioperative and Pain Medicine.

Peter Mac is currently seeking three anaesthesia fellows to provide day-to-day clinical management of patients under the care and direction of the Directorate of Anaesthesia, Perioperative Medicine and Pain Medicine to ensure a high quality of peri-operative patient care.
