Specialist International Medical Graduates Committee

The Specialist International Medical Graduates (SIMG) Committee reports to the Education Executive Management Committee (EEMC) and hence the ANZCA Council on assessment of specialist international medical graduates (SIMG) for practice in Australia and New Zealand.

Expression of Interest for Comittee Members

We are looking to appoint a fellow to our Specialist International Medical Graduates Committee (SIMG).  

The SIMG Committee will usually meet via videoconference bi-monthly including a meeting following each SIMG examination. Each year, there will be at least one face-to-face meeting in Melbourne.   

Appointment of members will take into account the following factors:  

  1. Knowledge of international anaesthesia and/or pain medicine training programs 

  1. Knowledge of processes for the assessment of medical practitioners 

  1. Knowledge of the FANZCA and/or FFPMANZCA training program  

  1. Knowledge of the ANZCA/FPM CPD program 

  1. At least one member will have been admitted to the fellowship via the SIMG process   

  The SIMG Committee duties and responsibilities include:  

  1. Make recommendations to EEMC on policy related to SIMG and STT assessment 

  1. Oversee the administration of the SIMG and STT assessment processes 

  1. Oversee the operations that support SIMGs undertaking the SIMG assessment process
