I am a specialist international medical graduate (SIMG)

Specialist International Medical Graduates (SIMG) must actively participate in the ANZCA and FPM Continuing Professional Development (CPD) program. The ANZCA and FPM CPD Program operates on an annual cycle, with 50 hours of CPD required per year.

This page has been developed specifically to support SIMGs actively participating in the CPD program, including helpful support and resources to meet your annual CPD requirements.

Your CPD requirements are the same as for fellows and other CPD participants in the annual ANZCA and FPM CPD Program, and these are the same whether you are completing your SIMG assessment full-time or part-time. For SIMGs interviewed before 3 April 2017, please note that your CPD requirements may differ. Details can be found in your Report 1/ assessment outcome report or connect with SIMG Team.

Upon being admitted to FANZCA you’ll be automatically and seamlessly transitioned to our CPD program as a fellow participant. This includes ongoing access to services such as the ANZCA Library and other resources to assist you with your CPD.

As the annual CPD requirements during SIMG assessment are the same as for when SIMGs become fellows, a mid-year transition to fellowship will be seamless in terms of remaining requirements for that year.

The below table of activities require manual entry into the CPD portfolio system. This provides the opportunity to become familiar with using the online CPD portfolio in anticipation of your admission to fellowship.
