Doctor banned over racism

17 November 2023

In a landmark decision, an ACT doctor has been banned for discriminatory and offence behaviour towards a medical colleague.

A doctor has been banned from practice for discriminatory and offensive behaviour towards ophthalmologist Associate Professor Kris Rallah-Baker, a Yuggera, Warangoo and Wiradjuri man. This is in line with Ahpra and the Medical Board of Australia’s commitment to eliminate racism from the health system to support culturally safe health care for all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples and recent strengthening of the national law that governs medical registration.

More information is available on the Ahpra website.
