Statement

Dr Chris Cokis joined the ANZCA Council in 2016 and was elected as vice-president in May 2020 and president-elect in December 2021.

Dr Cokis has clinical interests in cardiac and thoracic anaesthesia, is co-head of department at Fiona Stanley Hospital and leads the Cardio-thoracic service. 

Dr Cokis has completed twelve years as a final examiner including as Chair of the Final Exam Subcommittee, and notes this as one of the most professional rewarding experiences of his career. Dr Cokis still enjoys working with trainees in theatre on a daily basis.

Dr Cokis works mainly in the public setting, however his work in private allows an understanding of the environment and challenges faced by anaesthetists.
