In February 2021 ANZCA Council endorsed a recommendation to develop a dual anaesthesia and intensive care training pathway in collaboration with the College of Intensive Care Medicine (CICM).

Launching in 2023, the Rural Generalist Anaesthesia training program is a joint initiative of ANZCA, the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (RACGP) and the Australian College of Rural and Remote Medicine (ACRRM).
