Professor of Obstetrics & Gynecology and Oncology - Cumming School of Medicine- University of Calgary

Dr. Gregg Nelson is Professor of Obstetrics & Gynecology and Oncology at the Cumming School of Medicine, University of Calgary in Alberta, Canada and is Section Head of Gynecologic Oncology at the Tom Baker Cancer Centre. His principal research interest is the development and study of Enhanced Recovery After Surgery (ERAS) protocols in OB-Gyn and cancer surgery. Dr. Nelson has led the implementation of ERAS across Alberta Health Services since 2013. He holds the position of Co-Chair Enhanced Recovery CanadaTM and leads the ERAS® Society Women’s Health Chapter that published the ERAS® Guidelines for Gynecologic/Oncology Surgery, and ERAS® Guidelines for Cesarean Delivery.

Dr. Nelson has received over $7 million in grant funding, authored >200 peer-reviewed publications, and is the lead editor of the ERAS® Society Handbook for Obstetrics & Gynecology (Elsevier). He has been invited to present numerous times internationally, serves as the Treasurer of the ERAS® Society and has recently been named Associate Faculty at Ariadne Labs at Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health and Brigham and Women’s Hospital.
