Staff anaesthetist - Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre

Rani is a staff anaesthetist at the Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre and a senior clinical lecturer at the Department of Critical Care, at the University of Melbourne. Rani has a strong interest in perioperative medicine and quality improvement and is the current quality officer at the Department of Cancer Anaesthesia, Perioperative and Pain Medicine, and state airway lead for Victoria. His research themes include prevention of haematological and pulmonary complications, patient education and optimisation through virtual platforms, and implementation science using technological aids.

Rani was awarded the 2014 Peter Mac Team Excellence Award, the 2015 Victorian Premier’s Healthcare Award for Excellence in Cancer Care and the 2018 ANZCA Gilbert Brown prize and holds a Lean-Six-Sigma black belt.
