Dr Philip Tideman

 

Clinical Director of Cardiology and the Integrated Cardiovascular Clinical Network SA (iCCnet SA) in the Rural Support Service, SA Health

After training for rural general practice, Dr Tideman undertook physician training at the Royal Hobart and Royal Adelaide hospitals, completing cardiology specialist training at the Flinders Medical Centre in 1996. In addition to building up a public/private cardiology practice predominantly in rural SA with the Flinders Cardiology partnership he has pursued an extensive research career in population health and health services research, focusing on inequalities in access to and clinical outcomes from cardiovascular disease care. 

His major research interests include cardiac troponins in chest pain assessment, point of care pathology, medical information and communication technology, cardiovascular epidemiology, geographic variation in patterns of cardiovascular care and outcomes, clinical evidence implementation and continuous quality improvement in clinical practice. He is widely involved in providing post-graduate CME to primary care practitioners. He is a member of the Clinical Advisory Forum of the SA Rural Support Service and a vice-president of the Rural Doctors Association of SA.
