Dr Irina Hollington is a consultant pain medicine physician and anaesthetist at the Royal Adelaide Hospital and The Queen Elizabeth Hospital, where she also serves as Head of the CALHN Pain Management Unit. She joined the FPM Board in May 2024 and brings extensive experience across chronic pain medicine, anaesthesia, and outreach services in rural and remote communities.
Dr Hollington currently holds the following roles within FPM and ANZCA:
- Member of FPM Training Unit Accreditation Committee
- Member of the FPM Learning and Development Committee
- FPM Representative, Chapter of POM Advocacy and Policy Committee
- Ex officio, FPM Research Committee
- FPM examiner and supervisor of training
Dr Hollington trained in anaesthesia, intensive care, and chronic pain medicine in Germany, Switzerland, and Australia. Her clinical interests include chronic spinal, pelvic, and abdominal pain, as well as improving access to high-quality pain services for regional and remote populations. She also specialises in anaesthesia for general, colorectal, and spinal surgery.
A passionate educator, Dr Hollington is committed to training the next generation of clinicians and regularly teaches across ANZCA, FPM, and RACS courses. She values multidisciplinary collaboration and the delivery of evidence-based care to improve patient outcomes and quality of life.
