FAQs on training fees
The consequences of non-payment of fees are detailed in the table below:
| Key dates for Australia and New Zealand | Consequences of non-payment of fees |
|---|---|
| January 31 (fee due) | Trainee will be put into interrupted training until fee is paid. |
| February 28 | Access to MyPortfolio will be disabled. |
| March 31 | Trainee will be withdrawn from the training program. |
If you will be in part-time training for a continuous period of at least 52 weeks you need to apply for part-time training. Following approval, your annual training fee invoice will be amended based on the percentage of full-time equivalent (FTE) rounded to the nearest tenth plus an administration fee. If you will be in part-time training for less than 52 weeks continuously you will need to pay the full annual training fee.
About your training fees
We recognise that specialist training fees are a significant financial commitment. ANZCA training and assessment fees support the delivery, quality assurance and continuous improvement of the ANZCA Training Program. This includes training program delivery and trainee support, assessment, accreditation of training settings, digital systems, clinical education expertise, learning resources and the organisational services required to support the program. We aim to manage these costs responsibly while continuing to invest in high-quality training and assessment.

What we’re doing to improve the trainee experience
Training is one of the great strengths of our college – rigorous, continually improving and shaped by fellows, supervisors, and trainees working together. Here are some of the improvements we're working on:
- Enhancing My Portfolio to reduce administration and make training requirements and approvals easier to manage.
- Strengthening the trainee voice through trainee and graduate outcomes surveys and trainee journey mapping, giving us better information about trainee experiences, including training requirements, learning resources, supervision, wellbeing and communications.
- Establishing a dual ANZCA-CICM training recognition process to reduce unnecessary duplication and support a more streamlined pathway for trainees to achieve both fellowships, while maintaining the standards of both programs.
- Improving trainee selection processes to provide greater clarity and consistency around requirements and expectations.
- Strengthening assessment design and delivery to ensure assessments remain robust and aligned with evolving regulatory requirements
- Improving training site accreditation and quality assurance through stronger monitoring, clearer expectations and better use of trainee feedback about training environments
