Completion of the FPM training program
If you've successfully completed the training requirements of the faculty and have a specialist qualification acceptable to the FPM Board, you can apply for admission to fellowship via the form in the ePortfolio.
Approval process
Our director of professional affairs (DPA) assessor will:
- Confirm that you've completed all requirements of the FPM training program.
- Endorse your application.
- Determine the date of admission to fellowship.
We'll send your application to the FPM Executive Committee for consideration. Admissions to fellowship usually occur on the following Wednesday.
Once the FPM Executive Committee has approved your admission to fellowship, we'll email you a welcome pack. This welcome pack can be used to notify the Australia Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) and the Medical Council of New Zealand (MCNZ) of your change in registration. After applying for AHPRA, AHPRA will send you an email requesting confirmation from FPM confirming your fellowship status. Please forward a copy of this email to FPM so we can confirm your fellowship status on your behalf.
We'll post out your diploma within three months of receiving your payment for the FPM membership fee.
SIMG pathway
Specialist international medical graduate specialists (SIMGs) who have completed all the requirements under regulation 23 will be eligible to apply for admission to fellowship. After completing the SIMG pathway, the fellowship application form should be submitted to the faculty via [email protected].
