Transition to 2023 CPD program

We have updated the ANZCA and FPM CPD program to reflect revised Medical Board of Australia (MBA) and Medical Council of New Zealand (MCNZ) CPD guidelines. 

We are implementing a staged transition process to move participants in the triennial program’s three cohorts to the annual program. Please see the details below for your individual transition arrangements.

Transition arrangements

​If you were in the 2020-2022 triennium

  • You have automatically transitioned to the 2023 program and your online CPD portfolio has updated to reflect the annual, hours-based requirements.
  • Successfully completing the annual ANZCA and FPM program allows you to fulfil all requirements for medical registration.
  • All details are in the 2023 CPD program handbook and lots of support is available from our CPD team.​

If you are in the 2021-2023 triennium

  • In 2023, you remain in the 2014 CPD program with the same triennial requirements.
  • Please continue to refer to the 2014 program requirements and handbook
  • You will automatically transition to the 2023 program on 1 January 2024 and your online CPD portfolio will update to reflect the annual, hours-based requirements at this time. We will contact you about this in late 2023.

If you are in the 2022-2024 triennium

  • In 2023, you remain on the 2014 CPD program with reduced requirements to reflect the amended two year cycle:
    • Complete 50 CPD credits (instead of 80).
    • Complete one mandatory Practice evaluation activity (instead of two).
    • Complete one Emergency response activty (instead of two).
  • Please continue to refer to the 2014 program requirements and handbook
  • We have also developed a 2022-2024 triennium CPD portfolio support document to assist you in meeting your requirements.
  • You will automatically transition to the 2023 program on 1 January 2024 and your online CPD portfolio will update to reflect the annual, hours-based requirements at this time. We will contact you about this in late 2023.

 No verification of CPD activities (audit) in 2023

To give you time to become familiar with the updated CPD program, the college and the regulators will not undertake verification of CPD activities (audit) in 2023. The CPD team are here to support you during the transition process.
