The Gender Equity Sub-Committee (GESC) will be hosting a one hour online webinar (over Zoom) on Wednesday 16 September 2026 from 7-8pm (AEST) to explore the role of parental leave in supporting gender equity, fostering inclusive workplaces, and creating more equitable career pathways across medicine.

In the spirit of advancing gender equity across health professions, this webinar encourages a shared conversation about parental leave and gender equity.

Facilitated by ANZCA’s Gender Equity Sub-Committee (GESC) chair, Dr Angela Marsiglio, the webinar will feature the following presenters:

  • Dr Janette Wright, supervisor of training at the Royal Melbourne Hospital and co-founder of the CRASH Return to Work Crisis Management Course.
  • Dr Caitlin Low, specialist anaesthetist, Melbourne.
  • Dr Navid Aminian, advanced trainee, Canberra

Through practical insights and shared experiences, our speakers will explore the impact of parental leave on career progression in anaesthesia training and consultant practice.

These presentations will highlight the importance of understanding leave entitlements, supporting return-to-work transitions, and advancing equitable workplace cultures that recognise and support diverse caregiving roles.

For those unable to attend, this parental leave webinar will be recorded and made available post-meeting on the Gender Equity Libguide.

We look forward to seeing you all there.
