Location and venue

The 2024 Scan and Ski Workshop will be held at the Thredbo Alpine Hotel within Kosciuszko National Park, NSW.

Hands-on ultrasound scanning and instruction will be held during the morning and evening sessions, leaving the middle of each day free for skiing or sightseeing in the beautiful Snowy Mountains.

The workshop will cover upper-limb blocks, lower-limb blocks, trunk and spinal blocks, among other topics.

We are also pleased to announce the inclusion of a Can’t Intubate Can’t Oxygenate (CICO) workshop into the program.

Invited speakers

The workshop will feature world-renowned ultrasound specialists Dr Ross Peake, Dr Alwin Chuan, Dr Peter Hebbard, Dr Chris Mitchell, Dr Andrew Lansdown, Dr Monika Kenig, Dr Katrina Webster and Dr Harmeet Aneja., and CICO workshop facilitator Dr Freya Aaskov.

We would like to thank the FANZCA speakers and workshop facilitators who donate many hours of their time to organise, prepare and present at the regional ACE meetings.

Social program

There will be plenty of social activities during the workshop if you wish to attend.
 
Welcome reception
Welcome drinks will be held from 6pm on Thursday 1 August, and is included in the registration fee. Guest tickets can be purchased for $A66.
 
Après ski refreshments
Afternoon refreshments will be held from 4-5pm on Friday 2 August and Saturday 3 August, and is included in the registration fee. Guest tickets can be purchased for $A66 per day.
 
Workshop dinner
The workshop dinner will be held from 8pm on Saturday 3 August, and is included in the registration fee. Guest tickets can be purchased for $A110.

Registration fee: $A1,980

The registration fee includes welcome drinks on Thursday 1 August, attendance at the workshop on Friday and Saturday (including afternoon refreshments), and the workshop dinner on the Saturday 3 August.

The workshop is limited to a small group only to ensure social distancing and maximum time with the instructors and equipment, so register early to avoid missing out.

All registration fees are quoted in Australian dollars and inclusive of GST. 

Event Cancellation Policy
Due to the significant logistical costs of running this event no refunds will be given for delegate cancellations notified within eight (8) weeks of the event.

Terms and conditions

Accommodation

Accommodation is not included in the registration fee, however Thredbo Village has a vast range of accommodation options including at the workshop venue, Thredbo Alpine Hotel.

If you wish to stay at the workshop venue it is advisable to book early as the event falls within peak winter skiing season. To contact the hotel please email tahfunctions@evt.com and mention that you are with the ANZCA conference to secure one of the rooms that we currently have on hold.

Continuing professional development (CPD)

Participants in the ANZCA and FPM CPD Program will automatically have their attendance auto-populated in the pending folder of their CPD portfolio within 14 days of the conclusion of the meeting.

ANZCA and FPM CPD Program
This event is claimable by ANZCA and FPM CPD participants within the practice evaluation, knowledge and skills, or emergency responses categories.

Knowledge and skills activities
Workshops and small group discussions for two credits per hour.

Emergency responses activities
Where the outline states that the workshop satisfies an Emergency Response CPD requirement, the workshop will be prospectively recognised as suitable to be claimed as an emergency response activity. This refers to workshops covering management of:

  • Can’t intubate and can’t oxygenate (CICO)
