Overview

Take the opportunity to participate in a live webinar where experts discuss how to navigate the tricky process of deciding whether to offer surgery to patients with complex comorbidities.

Deciding whether surgery is the right choice for a patient with complex comorbidities is one of the most difficult parts of perioperative care. In this case-based webinar, a multidisciplinary panel of perioperative physicians, anaesthesia and intensive care specialists, and surgeons from different institutions will discuss a series of cases. Along the way they will show how different teams approach these decisions.

The panel will explore how to weigh up risk, when to delay surgery for optimisation, and how to have meaningful goals of care conversations with patients and families, even when time is short.

The session will be chaired by Dr Sheila Rahman, physician at Wollongong Hospital.
