Dr Michelle Mulligan appointed chair of Clinical Excellence Commission
Dr Michelle Mulligan OAM has been appointed board chair of the New South Wales government’s Clinical Excellence Commission, the lead agency for improved patient safety within the NSW health system.
Dr Mulligan is recognised not only for her clinical leadership but also for her commitment to supporting safer systems of care. A specialist anaesthetist and executive clinical director at the Northern Sydney Local Health District, Dr Mulligan is also director of professional affairs – policy (DPA-Policy) at the college. With Professor David Scott AM (DPA-Policy and past ANZCA president), she oversees the development of ANZCA safety and quality policy documents, including the college’s professional documents.
Throughout her career, Dr Mulligan says she has been strongly motivated by improving systems of care and believes the ability to connect people, expertise and evidence is increasingly important as healthcare becomes more complex. Dr Mulligan’s appointment is for a five-year term.
