Manufacturer of NIM ETTs has issued more advice re 2022 recall.

On 24 April 2026, Medsafe NZ issued a notice to advise that the manufacturer of the Standard Reinforced EMG ETTs & NIM CONTACT™, Medtronic Xomed, has issued more advice about their use. The advice is a follow up to Medtronic Xomed’s customer letter, of May 2022, and includes that precautions, warnings and product labels have been added and/or changed.

Anaesthetists should check the cuff pressure of these ETTs and avoid overinflation. They should also check for the presence of older stock, which may meet the recall requirements.

A more detailed Bulletin article about these ETTS will be published in the Spring edition.
