Sustainability in healthcare
ANZCA fellow, Western Health anaesthetist Professor Forbes McGain, Associate Dean of Sustainable Healthcare at the University of Melbourne, was interviewed on ABC Radio Melbourne's Mornings program on 21 May about sustainability in healthcare.
Professor McGain referred to the Lancet MedZero data launched at the World Health Assembly in Geneva.
The interview starts at 2:17:00 and runs to 2:22:00.
Sip Til Send guidance
ANZCA's Director Professional Affairs (Policy) Professor David A Scott was interviewed by AusDoc (paywalled) for a 19 May article about new national fasting guidelines released by the Australian Commission on Safety and Quality in Healthcare.
Professor Scott said while some hospitals had already adopted Sip Til Send protocols, the new guidance established the practice as clinically accepted.
The move recognised that theatre times were unpredictable and that patients were at risk of dehydration, discomfort and nausea.

Wollongong-based ANZCA President-elect Dr Tanya Selak was interviewed on ABC Radio Illawarra’s Breakfast program with Melinda James on 30 April (starts at 1:22). When she takes over from Professor Dave Story next week she will be the first ANZCA President who lives and works in a regional area
ANZCA ASM scientific convenor interviewed on Radio New Zealand
The ASM’s scientific convenor Dr Marta Seretny was a guest on Radio New Zealand’s Nights program with Emile Donovan on 30 April where she discussed the meeting and the specialty in a 15 minute segment live in the RNZ studio (just after an interview with former NZ prime minister Helen Clark).
