NSW Trainee Committee – What a year!
A huge thank you to our 2025 NSW Trainee Committee for everything they’ve done this year. Honestly, they’ve been amazing—delivering Part Zero on 18 October, running six workshops, and quietly doing so much behind the scenes. They’ve helped trainees connect with hospitals, supported people privately when things got tough, and made sure concerns were heard. They’ve also kept pushing for independent and rural trainees through projects and networking. Special shout-out to our Co-chairs Dr Sukhi Hegde and Dr Bahaven Jeyaratnam, and Deputy Chair Dr Dominic Horne—you’ve led with heart and energy, and it shows.
NSW Trainee Committee 2026
We’ve wrapped up the election and have 12 new members ready to kick off in 2026! It was a close race, and we’re excited to see what fresh ideas they bring next year.
Course highlights
NSW Introduction to Anaesthesia
Saturday 18 October was a big day for our new Introductory Trainees. We had 17 in-person and 10 online at the ANZCA Crows Nest Office. Huge thanks to our presenters (some even came all the way from Canberra!) and to our convenors Dr Milonee Shah and Dr Sukhi Hegde for pulling it all together. It was a great start for our new trainees.
NSW Primary Exam Refresher Course
From 3–7 November, we brought back the Primary Exam Refresher Course at Northside Conference Centre. It felt great to be back offsite—it gave us the space we needed and a nice vibe for the week. With 27 in-person and 10 online attendees, the atmosphere was cozy yet dynamic. Over five days, 21 presenters shared their expertise, answered questions, and helped trainees feel exam ready. Massive thank you to convenors Dr Michael Stone, Dr Alpha Tung, and Dr Stephen Williams for making it all happen.
NSW Final Exam Refresher Course
And then came the big one—the Final Exam Refresher Course from 1–5 December. This was huge: 105 in-person and 86 online attendees. This was our biggest course of the year, and it was nothing short of spectacular. 29 presenters gave their time and expertise, and the feedback has been phenomenal.
Our convenors deserve the biggest shout-out:
Dr Sally Wharton was there every day, making sure everything ran smoothly and supporting trainees and presenters alike. She was the calm in the storm and the reason everything stayed on track.
Dr Veronica Payne popped in whenever she could, checking sessions and encouraging trainees. Even with her busy schedule, she made time to keep things moving.
Dr Shanel Cameron brought the spark—running practice vivas and making them interactive and confidence-building. Her enthusiasm really lifted the room.
These incredible women didn’t just organise—they led from the front, presenting, supporting, and inspiring throughout the week. Your efforts are the heartbeat of this course’s success, and our trainees will never forget it!
