Victorian Trainee Day

Friday 21 November, 9.30am to 5.30pm

The Victorian Trainee Committee have been bringing together a Victorian Trainee Day which will focus on welfare, research, fellowship and challenges. It will be a chance for all to enjoy an informative relaxed day with their colleagues, with the added opportunity to network over drinks and canapes at the end of the day with the speakers and other trainees.

The event will be followed by social drinks and networking. For more information and to register see here

Please note that this is on one of the days of the Vic Primary refresher course which will be timetabled accordingly so those attending the course can attend the trainee day OR choose to watch lecture recordings should they want to continue to focus on studies on the day (option to do both if recordings watched at your leisure another time).

Melbourne Winter Anaesthetic Meeting

This year’s 45th Annual ANZCA/ASA combined CME meeting was held on the last weekend in August at the Sofitel Melbourne on Collins, Melbourne.

The program stretched over two days with a full day of education, including sessions covering perioperative medicine; innovation in medicine; cultural safety; and a practice evaluation session on the Saturday, followed by an expanded offering of emergency responses & small group discussion workshops on the Sunday. For the practice evaluation session, attendees were broken into smaller groups for the final session of the day. Delegates were invited to discuss their own cases on the day with colleagues and this session attracted points from the CPD practice evaluation component. The topics covered were relevant to most anaesthetists' practice be they public or private, metro or regional. The emergency response workshops held on the Sunday morning were advanced life support, obstetric haemorrhage and anaphylaxis.

The overall feedback from the delegates and our HCI sponsors was very positive, and both the meeting and workshops were all very well received with close to 250 attending the meeting, and all eight workshops were filled with plenty of willing participants on the waitlist.

Congratulations to the meeting convenors, Dr Adriana Bibbo and Dr Tabara Dione for their tireless efforts in bringing together a wonderful meeting, and on behalf of the VRC ANZCA and ASA Victoria we would like to thank everyone involved in contributing to the success of this meeting.

Please mark in your calendars Sat 8-Sun 9 August 2026 and join us again next year.

VRC FPM CME evening meeting

The FPM VRC CME evening meeting on Naltrexone was held on Tuesday 3 June 2025, drawing strong engagement from both in-person and online attendees. We extend our sincere thanks to presenter Dr Surabhi Gupta for an insightful session, and to evening convenor Dr Murray Taverner from the committee for leading the event. Running from 6.30–8.30 pm, the evening featured an engaging presentation, interactive Q&A discussions, and valuable networking over drinks and canapés. We are delighted by the overwhelming positive feedback received and thank all who joined us for making the evening a success.
