2026 FPM Board election
The FPM Board election concluded on Monday 16 February 2026.
We are pleased to announce that Dr Dilip Kapur, FPM Dean was re-elected to the FPM Board as a board member. We would also like to welcome new board member Dr Glen Sheh, a fellow from New South Wales. Unfortunately, Dr Murray Taverner from Victoria was not re-elected, and we thank him for nominating.
Thank you to those fellows who proved a vote in this election. The appointments will be made at the May FPM Annual Business Meeting in Auckland.
The FPM Board consists of 12 members, comprising nine elected or co-opted members, the elected New Fellow board member, the ANZCA President and the ANZCA Councillor member.
The elected/co-opted board members are appointed for a three-year term, to commence at the FPM Annual Business Meeting in the year they are elected. Board members can be re-elected for additional terms, however, cannot remain on the board for more than 12 years.
What you need to know
All financial fellows of FPM who meet the conditions outlined in by-law 1 are eligible to stand for election, nominate a candidate, endorse a candidate's nomination and cast a vote.
For electoral purposes, honorary fellows are not considered to be members and are therefore ineligible to participate in any aspect of the election process.
Responsibilities and commitments are outlined in the FPM Board member attributes.
FPM Board elections are held annually. An election will be called if the number of nominated candidates exceeds any available positions, as per clause 1.2.4 of by-law 1.
The exact timing is determined by the FPM Annual Business Meeting, so it will vary slightly from year to year.
Fellows who are within three years of admission to FPM fellowship by training and examination are eligible to nominate, stand, and vote for the position of new fellow board member.
We will directly email all members who are eligible to stand for election or nominate a candidate with details of the process. We will also announce the call for nominations via our key communications channels.
If an election is called, details and advance notice will be given to all voting fellows via email.
During this pre-poll stage, we encourage members to check that their contact information is up-to-date to ensure they can access the ballot when the time comes. Fellows will be invited by email to vote for their preferred candidates during a specific period.
We use a secure third-party electronic voting service called Election Runner to manage the FPM Board elections.
During the polling period you will be able to access candidate bios and statements and cast your vote. It's easy to use, and you can vote from any location on any device.
Once the ballot has been closed and results are known, all candidates will be contacted immediately by either the FPM dean or the faculty executive director to advise them of the result. The official announcement and appointments will be made during the next FPM Annual Business Meeting.
