2026 ACT Art of Anaesthesia ACE Meeting

Welcome

Anaesthesia is at a crossroads. We are caring for an increasingly older and more medically complex population while offering surgery to patients who, in the past, would never have been considered suitable candidates. How do we balance the needs of the individual with those of the wider population? This year's meeting “Where we are, where we've come from, and where we're going” provides an opportunity to reflect on this evolution and consider the future of our specialty.

Our program will take a multidisciplinary approach to these challenges, highlighting how anaesthetists can apply the principle of justice within our departments and healthcare systems. We will explore how advances in surgical techniques are creating new opportunities for meaningful recovery in higher-risk patients, and how emerging technologies and predictive tools can help identify who is most likely to thrive after surgery and who may require more intensive perioperative support. We will also discuss how anaesthetists can contribute more broadly within the multidisciplinary team to optimise patient care, improve perioperative pathways, and allocate resources more effectively to enhance efficiency and outcomes.

The program has been designed to support annual CPD requirements, incorporating emergency response activities and practice evaluation sessions throughout the day.

Cost and registration

Registration is now open, please register online with your college ID. 
 
All other delegates including allied health members and other medical specialties can also register online. Please select “Create Account” at the top of the page and enter your details. Once you are set up, search for the event and register. You will also be able to use your ID number and password to register for future meetings. If you require assistance, please contact us. 
 
Registrations close Wednesday 21 October2026.. Registration includes lunch, morning tea and afternoon tea. Workshops must be selected separately when registering. 
 
Full registration: $693 
Allied health professionals/trainees: $528 
 
Cancellation policy: Refunds will only be provided for cancellations advised in writing prior to the registration close date. Cancellations after the close date still incur venue and catering costs and therefore can’t be refunded. 

All registration fees are quoted in Australian dollars and inclusive of GST.  Please visit the ANZCA terms and conditions when registering for an event.

As springtime is a popular time to visit Canberra, we strongly recommend delegates book accommodation early.

Continuing professional development (CPD)

Participants in the ANZCA and FPM CPD Program will automatically have their attendance auto-populated to their CPD portfolio within 14 days of the conclusion of the meeting.

If you’re not participating in the ANZCA and FPM CPD program, please check with your respective college/provider regarding your CPD classifications. Post-event, you may request an electronic certificate of attendance for CPD evidence from the event coordinator.
