The one-day Introduction to Anaesthesia training program (formerly called the Part Zero Course) is run each year in all regions and New Zealand to welcome new trainees into the ANZCA Training Program.
In addition to welcoming new members to the college, consultant anaesthetists and current trainees will prepare new trainees for the journey ahead.
All new trainees to the WA RATP in 2026 are expected to attend this course, irrespective of when your employment start date is or what stage of training with ANZCA you are at.
Course content and structure
This course is delivered by the WA Education Officer Team together with consultants and trainees, and will include information on:
- Overview of the training program and curriculum
- Professionalism and performance
- Online portfolio management system
- Tips and tricks for training and exams
- Wellbeing
- Readiness for the Initial Assessment Anaesthesia Competency Training (RIAACT)
- ASA
