This free webinar introduces the Masterclass in Effective Communication eModule, developed to strengthen communication capability across anaesthesia and pain medicine training and practice.

Skills you will build

Effective communication underpins safe, high-quality patient care, team performance and clinician wellbeing—particularly in complex, high-intensity clinical environments. This session will outline why communication matters, where breakdowns commonly occur, and how greater self-awareness can positively influence interactions and outcomes.

Participants will be introduced to key concepts and practical approaches that support:

  • Building trust, confidence and psychological safety through effective listening.
  • Navigating challenging conversations with clarity and compassion.
  • Recognising the impact of implicit behaviours (such as tone, body language and non-verbal cues) on team dynamics.
  • Giving and receiving feedback in a constructive and supportive way.
  • Adapting communication approaches across diverse teams and clinical contexts.

The webinar will also mark the launch of the Masterclass in Effective Communication eModule, providing an overview of the learning experience, key features and how to access the full program.

Illustrative examples and applied scenarios will be used to demonstrate how these principles translate into everyday clinical practice.
