The Faculty of Pain Medicine (FPM) is seeking expressions of interest for the role of Director of Professional Affairs (DPA) – FPM Professional Affairs (0.4 FTE).

Overview

This senior professional leadership role supports the faculty in advancing professional standards, responding to emerging clinical and policy issues in pain medicine, and strengthening the faculty’s advocacy and engagement with stakeholders across the health system.

The role provides high-level professional expertise and advice in areas including:

  • Professional standards, policies and guidance relevant to pain medicine.
  • Responses to professional, patient and public enquiries, including complex clinical or professional matters.
  • Development of faculty professional documents and consultation submissions.
  • Identification of emerging clinical, regulatory and policy issues affecting pain medicine.
  • Support for faculty advocacy and engagement with government, regulators and other professional organisations.
  • Development of professional resources and initiatives that strengthen pain medicine capability, including in rural and regional settings.

Reporting to the Executive Director of Professional Affairs and working closely with the FPM Dean, the Executive Director, Faculty of Pain Medicine, other Directors of Professional Affairs and relevant committees, the successful applicant will provide authoritative professional advice and contribute to ensuring the faculty’s professional activities remain contemporary, evidence-informed and aligned with the Faculty’s strategic priorities.

The estimated commitment is 0.4 FTE averaged across the year and there is flexibility regarding location. Some travel and attendance at key meetings will be required from time to time.
