Your final daily update from the 2026 ANZCA Annual Scientific Meeting in Tāmaki Makaurau/Auckland.
And that's a wrap!
“Herenga waka, herenga tāngata: From home to home” – after an incredible ASM, it’s hard to believe it’s time to go home again. Over five days, 1873 in-person delegates heard from 274 presenters (including six keynote speakers) over six plenary sessions and 41 concurrent sessions (including Fast Takes and ePoster sessions), and attended 106 workshops. Thank you to everyone involved in making this meeting so fantastic. We hope to see you all again next year!
Passing the torch: Chats with Dave and Tanya
Before the ceremonial handover of the ANZCA presidency, which took place today, Professor Dave Story and Dr Tanya Selak chat about leadership, the importance of collegiality and collaboration and more.
In conversation: FPM leadership
Immediate Past Dean, Dr Dilip Kapur and newly appointed FPM Dean, Professor Michael Veltman reflect on the FPM Symposium and ANZCA ASM, the progress made across the faculty, and the work ahead for pain medicine.
Consent in research
In the last of our chats with keynote and invited speakers, Dr Stefan Dieleman speaks with A/Prof Rebekah McWhirter about consent between patient and physician, and her work on research consent in Indigenous communities in Australia.
