Your daily update from the 2026 ANZCA Annual Scientific Meeting in Tāmaki Makaurau/Auckland.
Highlights from Day 3
Fantastic job to the delegates that hit the NZICC for the bootcamp hosted by our ASM chosen charity, BBM! The "Equity in anaesthesia and pain medicine" breakfast gave us insightful discussions and moments of connection. Today also saw the prestigious Gilbert Brown Prize session, with plenty of fast-take sessions, workshops and engaging TopMedTalks to boot.
Interviews with keynote speakers
Lessons learned
Yesterday, Professor Mary Ellen McCann was interviewed by Dr Yvette Landels. They had a chat about Professor McCann’s work in paediatric anaesthesia, her passion for work-life balance advocacy and key highlights that have shaped her career.
Equity and obstetrics
Professor Alicia Dennis presented this morning on “Inequity, silence and truth.” She spoke with Dr Nicola McCarthy about reclaiming the word “surgery” in obstetrics, creating a safe and respectful birthing environment, and building trust with patients.
