Highlights from the 2025 ANZCA ASM: Day 3

From equity in anaesthesia and pain medicine at breakfast to a tropical soirée, here's what happened on the penultimate day of the 2025 ASM.
Today started with the reshaped “Equity in anaesthesia and pain medicine breakfast” where we heard from speakers on allyship and providing equitable care in regional and remote Queensland. We’re gearing up for tonight’s Tropical Soirée to celebrate the wonderful ASM so far.
Interviews with keynote speakers
- Dr Katie Thorne spoke on geriatrics at the “Perioperative medicine – everyday update”. She later sat down with Dr Adriana Bibbo to discuss which patients would most benefit from a geriatric assessment before surgery, post-operative cognitive dysfunction, and her key tips to aging well.
- Professor Eugenie Kayak spoke with Dr Tejas Chikkerur about bridging the gap between grassroots initiatives and the executive, how anaesthetists can promote environmental sustainability within their departments, “diving in at the deep end”, and how medical professionals can advocate for their communities.
We'll be adding interviews to our 2025 ASM playlist throughout the next five days.
