Pain medicine specialists bring research insights to CTN workshop

FPM researchers joined colleagues from across anaesthesia and perioperative medicine at the 2026 ANZCA Clinical Trials Network (CTN) Strategic Workshop, strengthening collaboration and bringing a pain medicine perspective to discussions shaping future clinical research.
FPM Research Network Chair Dr Tim Ho and FPM Vice-Dean Dr Irina Hollington joined a panel discussion on the Reduction Of Chronic Post-surgical Pain with Ketamine (ROCKet) trial. The Emerging Investigator Prize session also saw new FPM fellow Dr Nico Terblanche present a pain research abstract.
The program explored platform trials, a key focus of ongoing collaboration between the ANZCA CTN, FPM Research Committee and Research Network. Another highlight was a Bayesian re-analysis of pain data from the Perioperative ADministration of Dexamethasone and Infection (PADDI) trial.
Workshops like this highlight the importance of working across pain medicine, anaesthesia and perioperative medicine to improve research quality, strengthen networks, and share ideas and expertise that inform current and future research.
Over the past few months, we have worked with the FPM Research Committee and Research Network to help these connections and conversations continue beyond events and workshops.
