Plan a foyer 'takeover'
Last year, more than 60 anaesthesia departments around Australia and New Zealand celebrated NAD with displays and information stands in their hospital foyers.
It's a great opportunity to show your colleagues and the community what you do and why you're passionate about it.
If you're planning to put on a foyer display, let us know and we'll mail out a Champions Pack. And don't forget to book the space for Friday 16 October!

A focus on fasting
This year, we’re using NAD to launch our new resources for patients on “Fasting before your surgery,” which include guidance on what to do if they’re taking GLP-1 medications or other peptides. You can download printable versions of the A3 and A4 poster below. Visit the Fasting before your surgery patient information page for printable fact sheets.
We've also created a short animated video with closed captions which you can download as an MP4 file – perfect for playing on a loop in pre-admission clinics or waiting rooms.

Download posters, videos, fact sheets and kids' activities
Planning an information stand or foyer display? You can download our set of "You're in safe hands" A4 posters; our general patient information fact sheets; children's activity sheets; and closed-captioned videos to play on foyer and waiting room screens (see the bottom of this page). Each poster has a QR code promoting our new You're In Safe Hands community campaign.
'You're in safe hands' videos (YouTube)
Last year, we asked ANZCA Councillors to tell us how they explain what anaesthesia is; how they keep patients safe and comfortable; what makes a good anaesthetist; and what they enjoy most about their jobs. This year, we invited delegates from the 2026 Emerging Leaders Conference to do the same.

Put yourselves in the picture
Last year, lots of our champions liked our 'You're in safe hands' posters so much they made their own versions. So this year, we've created an ANZCA-branded 'drag and drop' Canva template you can use to put your whole team in the picture!
No Canva account? No worries. Simply set up a free one and you're good to go! You can even order professional A1, A2, and A3 prints at the click of a button and get them delivered to your door.
If you get stuck, please email us and we'll do our best to help.

Share your story
What little things do you do or say to help your patients feel they’re in safe hands? What’s the invisible skill or mindset every anaesthetist needs? What’s your go-to explanation of anaesthesia for friends or family?
Sharing your story in your own words can not only help people feel reassured they're in safe hands should they ever require the care of an anaesthetist, but can also inspire the anaesthetists of the future.
