Lifelong learning project

Our lifelong learning project is about providing all fellows, trainees, and SIMGs with a world-class educational experience that gives you greater ownership of your own educational journey.

In early 2023 we began gradually rolling out a range of new, integrated IT systems to replace our current combination of disparate e-learning platforms, online portfolios, and paper-based processes.

In this video, ANZCA President Dr Chris Cokis introduces your new, world-class educational experience.

What is the project?

We are reviewing, replacing and/or upgrading our existing learning programs and systems with a vision to provide equal access to learning through adaptive and contemporary online educational experiences. Systems such as the continuing professional development portfolio, training portfolio system, exams management system and networks are the focus for the initial stages of this project.

This program of work ensures the delivery of high quality education in anaesthesia, pain medicine, diving and hyperbaric medicine and the new offerings in perioperative medicine and rural generalist anaesthesia.

What has been delivered so far?

  • A multi-purpose ePortfolio used for pain medicine, rural generalist anaesthesia (RGA), diving and hyperbaric medicine training programs and procedures endorsement program.
  • Learn@ANZCA, our new learning management system which also hosts RGA exams and ANZCA Course in Perioperative Medicine.
  • An exam delivery platform used for online delivery of the FPM exam.

What's next?

We are targeting 2024 launch dates for the newly announced CPD mobile app, an ePortfolio for SIMG, and the next iteration of exams to deliver online. Further updates, including opportunities on how to get involved will be provided via this dedicated webpage, within the ANZCA Bulletin and e-communications.
