Lifelong learning project

Our lifelong learning project is about providing all fellows, trainees, and SIMGs with a world-class educational experience that gives you greater ownership of your own educational journey.

In early 2023 we began gradually rolling out a range of new, integrated IT systems to replace our current combination of disparate e-learning platforms, online portfolios, and paper-based portfolios.

In this video, ANZCA President Dr Chris Cokis introduces your new, world-class educational experience.

What is the project?

This piece of work will ensure we have the capabilities to continue to deliver and promote the highest quality contemporary lifelong education in anaesthesia, pain medicine and diving and hyperbaric medicine. This will better position us to support new education offerings such as perioperative medicine and the diploma of rural generalist anaesthesia.

What is being reviewed?

We are reviewing our existing programs and systems with a view to improve the online educational experience for our members. An exploration into future educational needs will also take place.

Systems such as the continuing professional development portfolio, training portfolio system, training site accreditation system, exams management system and networks will be the focus for the initial stages of this project. We will also explore systems to enable the college to reduce reliance on paper processes with more online forms and improved usability of payment functionality, such as online event registration.

What's next?

We have started to engage with fellows, trainees and SIMGs to better understand future needs. Further updates, including opportunities on how to get involved will be provided via this dedicated webpage, within the ANZCA Bulletin and e-communications.
